Accommodating and Affordable Ultrasound Services
At the Florida MRI Centers, we do a lot more than just MRIs. We’re also known for our convenient ultrasound services.
When you get an ultrasound, sound waves are transmitted through your body at a high frequency. Though humans aren’t able to hear them, these soundwaves are fed into medical equipment to create images of your body’s internal structures. If you’ve never had an ultrasound before, it’s normal to be nervous or even curious about exactly what to expect.
The ultrasound exam itself is typically around 30 minutes or so, depending on what your physician needs images of. First, gel is applied to your skin in the area to be scanned.
This allows the sound waves to be transmitted properly. Then we place a probe (known as a transducer) on your skin to transmit ultrasound waves, and the gel allows them to bounce off your body’s internal structures.
This procedure, though very thorough, is absolutely non-invasive, painless, and it’s fast. There’s no radiation unlike x-rays, and you don’t have to deal with noisiness unlike an MRI machine. As a result, ultrasound images are less detailed. But they’re perfect for detecting specific diseases and conditions as well as diagnose sports and car accident injuries and musculoskeletal conditions such as.
When you book your appointment with us, you’ll receive guidelines on what you can eat or drink beforehand, how to dress, and anything else you should know.
FAQS
What are 2D, 3D, and 4D ultrasounds?
3D ultrasounds show one additional dimension. For pregnancy ultrasounds, this allows you to see the baby’s skin and face instead of just a gray outline. 3D ultrasound images take longer to capture, but may be ordered by your physician depending on your condition.
4D ultrasounds allow you to see moving images and typically have a timestamp, but require the longest exposure to ultrasound waves.
Will the way ultrasound works affect your body?
If you tend to be nervous or stressed out during medical exams, we understand. From the moment you set foot in our ultrasound clinic, your comfort is our top priority. We’re happy to discuss any questions or fears you may be having before your ultrasound.
